    Hello Guys,
    I need an urgent help.
I updated Index profile using hotUpdate method.
And tried restarting the following services.
    1.Document Processor
    2.Indexing Dispatcher
    3.QRServer
    4.RTS Indexer

And after this my "RTS Indexer" went into Dead state. :(
It is not coming to a starting stage.
I am also getting the below error message in my error log.

    Quote:
[2009-11-05 16:19:25] ERROR nodecontroller #### 16015 systemmsg Process indexer terminated shortly after starting
    [2009-11-05 16:19:20] INFO nodecontroller #### 16015 systemmsg Starting indexer
[2009-11-05 16:19:20] WARNING nodecontroller #### 16015 systemmsg Process indexer was not running, restarting it

As the Indexer is dead no further data are displaying in the search view even if they are crawled.

Please help me in this regard.

    Regards,
    Santanu

I went ahead and started the FAST service but of no use.
Still my "RTS Indexer" is dead.

Did you manage to solve this one?

If not, what does the indexer log tell you?

    Looks like a port conflict.

Are there any orphaned processes? Shut down ESP and make sure all processes are dead. Then start again. This is a best practice when starting and stopping ESP.

Yes. But if its a port conflict then STOP/START of ESP will not help. Re-Boot will certainly help though.

If it is a port conflict, which is very common as we run multiple things in our ESP servers along with ESP, then I usually use netstat command from cmd line.

    For eg.,

    netstat -o -n -a | findstr 0.0:15100

The above will tell me what process (process number which you need to see against your Task Manger, Processes) is running at port 15100. Usually it will be a java.exe which will block the port in my case.
